The School Safety Agenda
OBJECTIVES:
1. Encouraging collaboration and teamwork
2. Achieving shared goals
3. Acquiring greater awareness of your influence on the surrounding environment
Step by step
Presentation. The teacher presents this activity: a participatory class agenda is created in which the objectives to be achieved are marked and the progress of the course is monitored. The goal is to raise awareness and knowledge about your school and to feel more prepared in case of an emergency.
Where do we start. Take a large poster and draw a line. The months of the year are entered, and the first stage is marked, i.e.:
- What do we know about our school?
At this point, the group defines step by step the actions they intend to carry out during the academic year so that everyone is aware of their school.
The following activities are suggested:
- Mapping the school
- Identifying emergency signs and fire exits
- Reading the evacuation plan in class and making it suitable for boys and girls
- Displaying the projects carried out at school and involving other classes in doing the same
The teacher and the group can consult the datasheets on the Feel Safe website and together choose the ones they want to include in the agenda.
Once the datasheets have been defined in stages to be followed along the line drawn on the poster, it's time to get creative. The pupils are asked to colour, decorate or illustrate it as they wish with images that refer to safety at school, for example the emergency signs in the corridors or other illustrations of their choice.
The agenda will now be ready and the program outlined.
