Italian Red Cross develops first Escape Room on Disaster Risk Reduction!
The project has the ambitious objective of increasing the awareness of the community and in particular of the youngest - in the three urban contexts of Lombardy, Lazio and Campania - on the risks related to climate change, improving their resilience and response capacity in case of disasters.
The Italian Red Cross has therefore created an Escape Room entirely dedicated to the theme of disaster risk, an edu-game designed to develop awareness on climate change. The project stems from the need to develop a safety culture linked to the theme of disaster risk reduction in order to raise awareness and promote education that engages young people and makes them feel an active part.
The project involved 30 young CRI volunteers and 400 secondary school students in its first edition.
The Escape Room, installed in the squares and meeting places of the main cities, involves the participants, supported by a team of volunteers, being introduced into an emergency-type context, set up in 3 rooms from which they must get out in a pre-established time, using creative and problem-solving skills, with activities such as preparing an emergency kit to be used in the event of an emergency, identifying the safest areas of the city, and managing a family emergency plan.
